Everyone involved with payroll should read this whether they are an employer, accountant, HR manager or payroll manager. My recommendation is always, regardless of the size of the payroll, that the person who keys its doesn't check it or pay it. I like the comment made by John Gill - "trust but verify"

Budget 2016 has introduced changes for contractors, and payers of contractors, as well as other business tax changes that will come in to effect on 1 April 2017. You may be affected by the changes if: you pay schedular payments you receive schedular payments you're a labour hire business and you pay contractors you're a contractor working for a labour hire business, eg recruitment company, or you pay provisional tax. There have also been changes to incremental late payment penalties and information sharing.
